While waiting for eRepublik to launch an exchange for GOLD to Real Currencies, a player in eRepublik created a betting company that pays in Real Life cash.

The “King of the Hill” of Virtual Worlds - SecondLife.com has a well established currency exchange on their website.  You can Buy and Sell Linden Dollars at a dynamic exchange rate.

Such a feature would be wonderful for eRepublik to develop.

Meanwhile, a Romanian entrepreneur which goes by the name of Nicolae Iorga created eBets, a company where you can bet GOLD and win Real Money.

How does this work?
You donate 10 gold to eBets and start betting. You can bet everyday by commenting in the eBets Newspaper.

At the end of each day you will have more gold in your account, if you chose the winning bet.

When you reach 50 GOLD (you win many bets and eBets owes you 50 GOLD) Nicolae Iorga will send you a bank transfer worth of 100 RON (RON is the Romanian currency).

100 RON = 42.6 USD = 27.26 EUR

That is 27.26 Euros for 50 eRepublik GOLD.

It seems that this opportunity is for Romanian players only but I am confident that Nicolae Iorga can find a way to pay international players through PayPal.

Romania, the 6th power in eRepublik conquered Ukraine between May 14, 2008 and May 17, 2008.

Turkey tried to help but they are much weaker than Romania. Some mercenaries were there also, but nothing changed the outcome of this easy war for the Romanians.

Now they have a border with Norway and a grudge against the treason from Turkey.

If they manage to conquer Bulgaria I can predict some bad weather for Turkey.

I will keep an updated list with what I would change in eRepublik.

1. Faster page load. You are talking about an investment of 200K Euros and 500K more in the future. With less money some video uploading/sharing websites have been founded. You really need to do something about the EXTREMELY BAD page load of your game. I feel like I’m trying to run Windows XP on an 133Mhz processor. It is not my connection’s fault, ALL the other websites work really fast. And some of them are MMORPGs.

4. Administrative jobs in all the companies. I mean, think of it this way. In Real Life (RL) the owner of 5 corporations does not do any real work. I have some companies and I want to hire: a CEO, a HR manager, a and a Marketing manager for each of them. The CEO will have all the powers of the owner except the possibility to sell the company or collect profit , the HR manager should be able to hire/fire people and the Marketing manager should be able to sell the products, set prices, etc.

In over 176 days in the New World, some countries are gone, extinct, conquered … by other eRepublik stronger eNations.

I will try to keep an updated list with the “missing” eRepublik countries, not necessarily in a specific order:

1. Belgium - was conquered by the United Kingdom on April 13, 2008 in RL (I’m still not used to these new wonderful dates using New World days). They said it was an union. Four other countries helped the UK in their initiative. Wonderful.

2. Slovakia - was conquered by the Czech Republic on the same day, April 13 2008. Another union.

3. Moldavia was conquered by Romania on April 15, 2008. Our third union this month. This looks like a great game .. they all unite through war. Wonderful.

4. Israel was conquered by Turkey on April 16, 2008. 4th union. This is ridiculous.

5. Australia was conquered by Indonesia on April 18, 2008. No union there, Australia fought back and it looks like they claim a bug made them lose the war. It could be, we are still testing the game.

6. India was CONQUERED by Pakistan on April 21, 2008. No doubt about it, they’ve conquered it. Are there any indians out there? You’re suppose to 1 billion .. in RL. What’s your problem? Get up and fight.

7. Finland was conquered by Norway on April 21, 2008. Ooops … I thought the motto of Finland was: “Finland, be afraid, be very afraid!!“

8. Denmark was conquered by Sweden on April 23, 2008. Karma.

9. South Korea was conquered by Japan on May 08, 2008. They were just “testing” the new war module. Nice.

11. Switzerland was divided between France and Italy. Gangbanged, I might say.

You can start a rebellion in any region if you own 100 gold. Get 100, 200, 300 friends together (from other forums maybe), play for a few weeks to build up military skill and gold and fight for your independence.

Again - a very strong set of figures across the board and more clear evidence of rising inflation. Most people have (quite understandably) been so focussed on the war module that by large people don’t seem to realise that Erepublik’s global economy is actually functioning better than ever!! That in spite of a few lingering bugs - not just around the war module.

I’m still desperately trying to find time to write more in depth articles about the global economy but real life doesn’t seem to allow me the luxury at the moment!

Sweden still dominates the GDP figures but whereas it used to have an economy bigger than the next 3 nearest competitors this is no longer the case! Indonesia is starting to establish itself as the clear number 2 economic power, replacing Spain that had previously held this position over several weeks.

Italy also shows it is not just able to pull people in but can also flex some real economic muscle.

For the first time ever, all countries in the ELT show positive economic growth! Austria and Italy come top due mostly to their surging popluation. The big winners among the established economic powers though are Indonesia and Romania.

Indonesia is an interesting case and I was wondering why their economy is suddenly doing so well… For many months Indonesia’s economy had been underforming, in my view largely due to an overemphasis on food production. The oversupply in the global economy meant that food prices we very low compared to other products. With the dramatic turnaround in the global economy from a situation of overproduction to underproduction food is suddenly in short supply in many countries and Indonesian exporters have had a chance to make big bucks!

If you ever needed proof that we are currently seeing serious global inflation here it is! Never before have prices been increasing so fast. Governments will now need to be very careful with taxation levels and devaluing their currency (a favourite tactic in several countries it seems…). Whilst inflation is harmful it is certainly a much better problem to have to deal with than the serious deflation most economies had been facing in previous months.

When you take out the inactive citizens from the picture Iran’s economic output actually looks pretty good, coming in a proud 3rd after France and Spain. Expect to see Italy and Austria rise from the bottom as their workforce gains in skill and productivity. And will Romania manage to turn it’s recent boost in population in productive workers?
